About Annas
Anna's Swedish Thins (Annas Pepparkakor) is Sweden's most beloved gingerbread cookie brand, with a baking heritage stretching back to 1929. The company was founded when sisters Anna and Emma Karlsson opened their home bakery in Östermalm, Stockholm, creating what would become an internationally cherished Swedish treat. Today, Annas Ginger Thins are recognized worldwide for their delicate crispness and perfectly balanced spice blend. The secret recipe contains traditional Swedish spices—cinnamon, ginger, and cloves—that have remained unchanged since Anna first perfected it nearly a century ago. The thins are still carefully crafted using traditional baking trays, which gives them their signature delicate texture. The brand's excellence was officially recognized in 2002 when AB Annas Pepparkakor was appointed Purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden (kunglig hovleverantör), making them a Royal Warrant holder to the King of Sweden. This prestigious honor reflects the brand's commitment to quality that has made it a household name across Scandinavia and beyond. In 2008, Belgian company Lotus Bakeries acquired Annas Pepparkakor, helping distribute these famous Swedish cookies throughout Europe and internationally. The company remains headquartered in Tyresö, outside Stockholm, where the tradition of excellence continues. The product range includes the classic Ginger Thins as well as Almond Ginger Thins and Orange Ginger Thins. In Swedish tradition, pepparkakor are known as 'make-a-wish biscuits'—you place a biscuit on your palm, press the middle, and if it breaks into three pieces, you can make a silent wish. Available at UK supermarkets including Ocado, Annas brings authentic Swedish baking tradition to British homes, perfect for fika (Swedish coffee break), Christmas celebrations, or everyday indulgence.
