About Aquafresh
Aquafresh revolutionised oral care when it launched in 1973 as the world's first striped toothpaste. Developed by Smith Kline & French Laboratories (later GlaxoSmithKline), it was designed to stand out in a market dominated by established competitors. The original blue and white stripes symbolised dual benefits—fighting tooth decay and freshening breath—before the signature red stripe was added to represent gum health, creating the iconic triple protection promise. Over five decades, Aquafresh has grown into a billion-dollar brand available in over 120 countries worldwide. In July 2022, the brand transferred from GSK to Haleon plc when GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division. Haleon, headquartered in Weybridge, England, is now one of the world's largest consumer healthcare companies, also owning Sensodyne, Panadol, Advil, and Centrum. The Aquafresh range has expanded significantly since its original formula. Adult products include Triple Protection, Complete Care, Intense Clean, Fresh & Minty, and the new White Renew range launched in May 2025. The kids' range features specially developed formulas for children's growing mouths, with age-appropriate fluoride levels and appealing flavours, often featuring the brand's friendly mascot characters. All Aquafresh toothpastes are designed to deliver triple protection: cavity protection through fluoride, fresh breath through mint flavouring, and gum care through gentle cleaning action. The distinctive three-stripe design remains central to the brand's identity, making it instantly recognisable on shop shelves. In March 2025, Pfizer sold its entire stake in Haleon for approximately £2.5 billion, marking its complete exit from consumer healthcare. Aquafresh is available at UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Boots, and Superdrug. Compare prices with Grocefully.
