About Dewlay
Dewlay Cheesemakers is a third-generation family business producing Lancashire's finest artisan cheese from their dairy in Garstang since 1957. Founded by George Kenyon, the company name derives from the French 'Du Lait' (of the milk), pronounced with George's broad Wigan accent as 'Dew-Lay'—and the name stuck. What makes Dewlay truly special is their commitment to traditional Lancashire cheesemaking methods, particularly the unique two-day curd process that originated when small farm holdings would make curd over two days before combining them. All Dewlay cheese is made using fresh pasteurised milk sourced directly from dairy farms within a six-mile radius of the dairy, combined with their own unique starter culture developed on-site over 40 years ago. Now run by third-generation brothers Nick and Richard Kenyon, Dewlay produces an award-winning range including Creamy, Crumbly, and Tasty Lancashire varieties, plus the distinctive Garstang Blue. The dairy made history in 2010 by becoming the first UK dairy powered by a 2MW wind turbine, demonstrating their commitment to sustainable cheesemaking. Available at UK supermarkets including Asda and Booths, Dewlay cheese brings authentic Lancashire heritage to tables nationwide. Grocefully helps you compare Dewlay cheese prices across UK retailers to find the best deals on these traditional British cheeses.
