About Duchess Farms
Duchess Farms is a sixth-generation family farm in the Hertfordshire countryside, specialising in cold-pressed rapeseed oils and heritage grain flours produced using sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices. The farm prioritises quality over volume, working directly with London chefs rather than pursuing supermarket retail. Their flagship extra virgin cold-pressed rapeseed oil comes in three distinctive varieties: Original, Raw, and Smoked. All oil is pressed and bottled on-farm without heat or chemicals, ensuring maximum flavour and nutritional value. The entire production process from seed to bottle is managed on-site, providing complete traceability and quality control that sets their products apart from mass-produced alternatives. The farm also cultivates 30 acres of heritage grains including einkorn, Lys Brun, and Ölands—grown without chemical inputs to support biodiversity and soil health. In partnership with Gilchesters Organics, these grains are stone-milled into flour that retains nutritional value and unique flavours. E5 Bakehouse in Hackney uses Duchess Farms heritage wheat flour for their artisan Wild bread. Available through specialty retailers like British Essentials and Farmfetch, and wholesale channels for restaurants via REKKI, Duchess Farms represents the best of British artisan food production—small-batch, traceable, and focused on flavour rather than factory efficiency.
