About Gimoka
Gimoka is an Italian family-owned coffee company founded in 1982 by Ivan Padelli in Lecco, Lombardy. What began as a small roastery on the banks of Lecco has grown into Italy's second-largest coffee roasting company, processing an impressive 28,000 tons of coffee annually. The Gimoka story started when the Padelli family owned a small coffee shop in Lecco. Ivan, with help from his father, founded Gimoka to specialise in roasting coffee for home consumption. By 1987, growing demand required equipment expansion, and in 1990 production moved to Andalo in the Valtellina region. Today, Gimoka Group remains a family business with Ivan's sons David (CEO) and Marco (Global Business Director) leading operations. The company pioneered Italy's single-serve coffee market through partnership with Espresso Italia in 1992, and has expanded through strategic acquisitions including Caffè Garibaldi (2016) and St Remio (2018). The UK range includes Dolce Arabica Ground Coffee (smooth and aromatic), Vellutato 100% Arabica Ground Coffee (Rainforest Alliance certified), Vellutato 100% Arabica Roast Beans (for whole bean enthusiasts), and Aroma Classico Ground Coffee (traditional Italian blend). With over 40 years of expertise, Gimoka delivers authentic Italian coffee quality recognised by Altroconsumo's Quality Seal award.
