About Gu
Gü is the UK's number one premium dessert brand with over 20% market share, created by James Averdieck in 2003. The brand is widely credited with introducing restaurant-quality desserts that can be enjoyed at home, launching with two chocolate mousses and a chocolate soufflé in iconic glass ramekins with just £65,000 seed capital. Founded through a joint venture with a patisserie company in London, Gü rapidly expanded under Averdieck's leadership through an effective marketing strategy focused on quality and branding. Noble Foods acquired the brand in 2010 and invested in a state-of-the-art 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Bishop's Stortford, which opened in 2018 and created around 100 jobs. In 2021, private equity firm Exponent acquired Gü to grow its international reach. The product range includes ramekin desserts, sharing puds, mini puds, and mousses in various styles including cheesecakes, puddings, and tortes. The iconic Zillionaire Cheesecake features five indulgent layers, while the Lemon Cheesecake and Chocolate & Vanilla Cheesecake became instant classics. Other popular flavours include Key Lime, Salted Caramel, Tiramisu, and Honeycomb Zillionaire. The mousse collection features Dark Chocolate with Salted Caramel (using Guérande salt), silky Milk Chocolate Mousse, and Mango with passionfruit coulis. Hot desserts include the legendary Chocolate Soufflé, Chocolate Melt in the Middle, Brownies, and Sticky Toffee Puddings. Gü has expanded into plant-based desserts with vegan and gluten-free options including Plant Zillionaire Cheesecake, Plant Spanish Lemon Cheesecake, and Plant Chocolate & Vanilla Cheesecake. Beyond the UK, Gü is sold in France, Germany (where it's the second largest premium chilled dessert brand), Austria, Netherlands, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, and the United States.
