About Hamilton Beach
Hamilton Beach is a pioneering American kitchen appliance brand founded in April 1910 by inventor Frederick J. Osius in Racine, Wisconsin. The company takes its name from two employees Osius hired: Louis Hamilton as advertising manager and Chester Beach as mechanic, each receiving $1,000 for the use of their names. Chester Beach's invention of a high-speed fractional motor in 1905 would become the foundation for the company's innovative home appliances. The company's first product, the Cyclone Drink Mixer introduced in 1910, became an iconic fixture at soda fountains in drug stores throughout North America. This characteristic spindle and metal container mixer established Hamilton Beach as a pioneer in bringing electric motors—previously only used in commercial applications—into the home. The product line rapidly expanded to include food mixers, juice extractors, fans, floor polishers, meat grinders, and hair dryers. Hamilton Beach underwent significant corporate changes when founders Hamilton and Beach left in 1913 to form Wisconsin Electric Company. Osius sold the company to Scovill Manufacturing in 1922. A landmark moment came in 1990 when Hamilton Beach merged with Proctor-Silex, creating the largest US manufacturer of small kitchen appliances and significantly expanding their market presence. Today, Hamilton Beach Brands Holding Company is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, employing over 700 people globally. They design, market, and distribute home appliances and commercial restaurant equipment primarily in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with their extensive range including blenders, mixers, toasters, slow cookers, coffee makers, food processors, clothes irons, and air purifiers.
