About Harpic
Harpic is the world's number one selling toilet cleaner and number two toilet care product globally, owned by Reckitt. The brand traces its origins to the early 1920s when British sanitary engineer Harry Pickup invented an innovative toilet cleaner using nitre cake - a byproduct from munitions factories at the end of World War I. The name "Harpic" came from the first two syllables of Harry Pickup's name. Reckitt and Sons acquired Harpic in 1932 and launched it in the UK market. Harry Pickup remained involved, continuing to innovate products including drain cleaners and sealants. His original formula was so effective it remained unchanged for 40 years. Early marketing included the Harpic toilet roll in 1936 as a bundled promotion, and 1930s advertising positioned Harpic as the first product to reach where a brush couldn't. In 1952, Harpic became one of the first Reckitt brands to utilise television advertising, becoming widely known for the jingle "Harpic, Harpic; the sign of a clean home." The brand has since expanded globally to Africa, Middle East, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas. The Harpic Power Plus range features 10 actions: fast acting, limescale removal (in 1 minute), tough stains, rust, below water, dirt build up, under rim, urine stains, 99.9% bacteria elimination, and freshening. Unlike bleach which disinfects but leaves limescale behind, Harpic removes limescale - a breeding ground for germs. Products include Power Plus Toilet Bowl Cleaner Gel (Original and Citrus), Power Plus Deep Clean Tablets that work in the u-bend without scrubbing, toilet blocks, rim blocks, cistern blocks, wipes, and the complete Harpic Clean & Care System for everyday cleaning through to deep clean.
