About Highland Spring
Highland Spring is the UK's number one UK-sourced bottled water brand and the biggest selling British brand in the global water market. The company was incorporated in 1979 following the purchase of the Blackford and Quoiggs Estate in Perthshire, Scotland, in 1977 by Emirati businessman Mahdi Al Tajir, who served as the first UAE ambassador to the United Kingdom. Production began in 1980 from a site in Blackford, Perth and Kinross, sourcing water from a protected, organically accredited catchment area stretching over 2,500 acres of the Ochil Hills. Today, Highland Spring employs more than 400 staff and bottles in excess of 500 million litres of water annually, exporting to over thirty countries including the Middle East, Hong Kong, and the USA. In July 2025, Highland Spring achieved its long-term goal of becoming the UK's number one water brand by both value and volume. The company grew sales by 13.5% to £148.2 million in 2024, with pre-tax profit increasing to £7.59 million. A £10 million investment in the Blackford facility in 2025 is unlocking an additional 25% annual growth capacity. Highland Spring Group achieved carbon neutrality across UK operations in 2021, certified by the Carbon Trust under PAS 2060. The company has committed to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040—ahead of the UK's 2050 target—with an interim goal of 50% emissions reduction by 2030. The transition to 100% recycled PET (rPET) bottles is targeted for 2025. The product range includes still and sparkling natural mineral water in various sizes, from single bottles to multipacks. Highland Spring's pure Scottish water is filtered naturally through layers of rock over centuries before emerging at the Ochil Hills source. Highland Spring is available at UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, and Morrisons. Compare prices with Grocefully.
