About Johnsons
Johnson's Baby is an American baby care brand introduced in 1893 with Johnson's Baby Powder, now owned by Kenvue Inc. For over 130 years, Johnson's has set the standard for baby skincare, generating more than 90% of all industry-sponsored research on baby skin development globally between 2009-2022. Johnson's Baby Powder was invented by Dr. Frederick B. Kilmer in 1892-1893, responding to a physician's letter about a patient suffering skin irritation. He suggested scented Italian talcum powder, which debuted in 1893 and went to market in 1894, establishing the Johnson's Baby brand. In 1953, Johnson's revolutionised baby care with No More Tears shampoo, introducing amphoteric cleansing agents that are extremely mild and gentle on babies' eyes and sensitive skin. Within six months, Johnson's captured 75% of the baby shampoo market. The No More Tears standard has meant parents can trust products are pure, mild, and gentle for over 70 years. The product range has expanded to include baby powder, shampoos, body lotions, massage oil, shower gels, and baby wipes (introduced in 1980). Notable launches include No More Tangles shampoo (1971), sunscreen (1991), and the Bedtime range (2000) featuring lavender and chamomile in Bedtime Bath, Lotion, Wash, and Oil products. Kenvue Inc. was spun off from Johnson & Johnson as a separate consumer health company in May 2023 with an IPO raising $3.8 billion. Johnson's Baby is part of Kenvue's baby care segment alongside Desitin, which reported $4.2 billion in sales in 2024. In November 2025, Kimberly-Clark announced acquisition of Kenvue for $48.7 billion.
