About Kopparberg
Kopparberg is Sweden's largest cider brewing company and the UK's largest fruit cider brand. The brewery was originally established in 1882 in the town of Kopparberg in central Sweden, when 36 craft brewers joined forces. After changing hands and closing twice, the brewery was re-established in 1994 when Peter Bronsman and his brother Dan-Anders Bronsman bought the historic site. Kopparberg pioneered the fruit cider category in the UK when it launched in 2003, selling its first case of Pear Cider to a bar in Leicester Square, London. This introduction of the UK's first-ever fruit cider revolutionised the British cider market. Cider of Sweden Ltd, established in 2006 as a joint venture, handles UK marketing, sales, and distribution with a team of 38 people and annual turnover of £140 million. Today, Kopparberg is the number one packaged cider in the UK On-Trade, while Strawberry & Lime and Mixed Fruit hold the top two spots for total market share in the Off-Trade. The brand is sold in more than 30 countries and claims the title of world's best-selling pear cider. The product range is extensive: Pear, Apple, Strawberry & Lime, Mixed Fruit, Raspberry, Cherry, Passionfruit, Passionfruit & Orange, Rhubarb, Rosé, Sambucus (elderflower), Lemon & Lime, Spiced Apple (cinnamon), and alcohol-free variants. Kopparberg claims to be the pioneer of sweet cider and fruit cider, as well as the inventor of Frozen Fruit Cider. In 2013, Kopparberg entered a global distribution partnership with SABMiller (now AB InBev) for markets where Kopparberg doesn't have existing operations. The fresh, soft water from the Kopparberg region remains central to the brewing process. Kopparberg is available at UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, and Morrisons.
