About Lenovo
Lenovo is the world's largest personal computer manufacturer, founded in Beijing, China on November 1, 1984. Originally named Legend, the company was established by eleven engineers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences with just 200,000 yuan (approximately US$25,000) in starting capital. The company achieved early success by developing a Chinese character set for computing in 1985, addressing a critical gap in the Chinese IT market. By 2000, Lenovo's Tianxi had become the best-selling computer in Chinese history, selling over 1 million units in a single year. In 2003, Legend rebranded as Lenovo - combining "Le" from Legend with "Novo" (Latin for new), meaning "New Legend". The transformative 2005 acquisition of IBM's Personal Computing Division for $1.75 billion brought the iconic ThinkPad brand into Lenovo's portfolio, establishing the company as a global technology leader. Today Lenovo operates from dual headquarters in Beijing and Morrisville, North Carolina. Since 2021, Lenovo has held the position of world's largest PC seller by unit sales. The company offers laptops, tablets, desktops, and servers. Compare Lenovo prices at Grocefully.
