About MILAN
MILAN is a legendary Spanish stationery brand founded in Barcelona in 1918, now recognised as the world's largest eraser manufacturer. The company's iconic MILAN 430 eraser celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018 and remains the best-selling model, with 20 million produced annually and sold in over 110 countries. The brand's history begins with José Milán, a stationery wholesaler, partnering with Santiago Marcó during World War I to manufacture ink, sealing wax, glue, and erasers using formulas from English chemist Ralph Somers. Their "white crumb" (miga de pan) synthetic rubber eraser was an immediate success, named for how it crumbles like the bread traditionally used for erasing before modern erasers. MILAN was first to manufacture oval "cat tongue" erasers in 1950 and pioneered plastic resin erasers with the famous NATA in the 1960s. Now managed by the fourth generation and marketed by FACTIS SA, MILAN offers over 2,000 stationery references including erasers, pencils, pens, scissors, adhesive tape, and art supplies. Their product range includes left-handed designs and professional high-precision electric erasers for architects and artists. Compare MILAN stationery prices across UK retailers.
