About Peters Yard
Peter's Yard produces award-winning sourdough crispbreads that combine Swedish baking tradition with British artisan craft. The brand was born when founders Ian and Wendy discovered Peter Ljungquist's exceptional crispbread (knäckebröd) at a small Swedish bakery and felt compelled to bring these flavours to the UK market. The heart of every Peter's Yard product is their precious 45-year-old sourdough starter, allowed to ferment for a full 16 hours before each batch is made. Combined with simple, natural ingredients including organic fresh milk and organic Shipton flour, each cracker is hand-rolled and baked until crisp and golden in small batches at their St Albans bakery. The Original recipe has earned 3 stars at the Great Taste Awards, with judges declaring it "the best biscuit for cheese out there". This recognition reflects the brand's commitment to authentic baking without shortcuts or artificial ingredients. The products contain no palm oil, artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. Nutritionally, Peter's Yard crispbreads offer a lighter alternative to bread - high in fibre, low in sugar, and under 40 calories per piece. This makes them ideal for health-conscious consumers who don't want to compromise on taste. The range includes various formats suitable for cheese boards, dips, and everyday snacking. Originally made in Peter Ljungquist's Swedish countryside bakery, production has since moved to the UK while maintaining the authentic Swedish recipes and artisan approach that made the crispbreads special.
