About Quercetti
Quercetti is an iconic Italian toy company founded in 1950 in Turin by Alessandro Quercetti, making it one of the longest-running toy manufacturers in Italy. After serving as a fighter pilot in World War II, Alessandro took over a small factory producing tin mechanical toys before establishing his own company, originally called Hopla, Giocattoli Meccanici Brevettati (Patented Mechanical Toys), which soon became Quercetti. The company achieved rapid success with products like Cavallo Galoppa, Sulky, and the Chicco and Piretta dolls. However, their most iconic creation was the Coloredo pegs, which later became Fantacolor. First introduced in 1953 with wooden pegs, coloured sealing wax, and cardboard tablets, Fantacolor became an unmistakable icon of creative play for entire generations of children worldwide. Quercetti remains one of the very few toy companies that proudly controls its entire production chain directly. All games are designed, manufactured, and prepared for delivery in Italy, specifically in Turin. Their philosophy centres on toys that run on "child energy" - no batteries, cables, or touchscreens - focusing instead on hands-on creative and educational play. After founder Alessandro Quercetti passed away in 2020, the company continues under the leadership of his sons Alberto and Stefano, maintaining the family's commitment to quality and creativity. The factory has grown larger and more advanced, but the founding vision remains unchanged after over seventy years of bringing joy to children through innovative, screen-free toys.
