About Rex London
Rex London is a beloved British homeware and gifts brand, born from London's creative Portobello Road scene in the mid-1970s. Two young entrepreneurs—Eri (selling jeans and ponchos) and Rob (making candles)—joined forces to import giftware, officially launching Rex International in 1981. The company rebranded as Rex London in April 2017, modernising while staying true to its distinctive style of whimsical designs and retro-inspired patterns. In 2019, the brand received the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade, recognising its export success. Today, all Rex London designs are created in-house at their London head office. The team combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, producing over 2,500 inspirational products that bring joy and character to homes across the UK and Europe. The company has been shortlisted for 'Gift of the Year' multiple times. The product range spans kitchenware, home décor, children's toys, stationery, lunch boxes, bags, and decorative items. Signature styles include nostalgic, vintage-inspired patterns with charming illustrations—think cheerful animals, botanical prints, and classic retro motifs that appeal to both children and design-conscious adults. Under CEO Nigel Biggs (appointed 2008), Rex London has grown significantly, with European sales representing roughly 50% of turnover. A European hub opened in Belgium in 2021 to serve continental customers post-Brexit. Rex London products are available at UK gift shops, department stores, and online retailers.
