About Roku
Roku is a premium Japanese craft gin from Suntory, Japan's pioneering spirits company. In Japanese, "Roku" means six, representing the six unique Japanese botanicals at the heart of this distinctive gin: sakura flower and leaf from spring, sencha and gyokuro tea from summer, sanshō pepper from autumn, and yuzu peel from winter. The creation of Roku is rooted in over a century of Suntory expertise. The company's founder Shinjiro Torii opened Torii Shoten Store in 1899 with the dream of creating "original Japanese Spirits the whole world can enjoy, uniquely made from Japan's nature and her people." Suntory launched Hermes Gin - their first gin - in 1936, and Roku represents the pinnacle of this heritage. The six Japanese botanicals are combined with eight traditional gin botanicals - juniper berry, coriander seed, angelica root, angelica seed, cardamom seed, cinnamon, bitter orange peel, and lemon peel. In a process unique to Roku, each Japanese botanical is distilled using different pot stills chosen to extract the best flavour, creating a complex yet harmonious gin with a smooth, silky texture. The hexagonal bottle design reflects Japanese aesthetics, with the six botanicals embossed on the glass. The label is printed on traditional washi paper with bold calligraphy, emphasising Japanese craftsmanship. Compare Roku gin prices at Grocefully.
