About Stranger Things
Stranger Things is Netflix's iconic supernatural drama series created by The Duffer Brothers, debuting in 2016 after being rejected by more than 15 studios. The show quickly became one of Netflix's most popular series ever, with Season 4 alone amassing over 140.7 million views globally. Rooted in 1980s nostalgia, the series has garnered over 70 awards worldwide including Emmys and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Netflix launched its consumer products division in 2019, followed by an officially licensed online shop two years later. In January 2025, Netflix signed its first master licensing deal with Jazwares (makers of Squishmallows) to develop comprehensive Stranger Things product lines including figures, play sets, toy vehicles, costumes, and stuffed toys. The final season has sparked Netflix's largest brand collaboration campaign, partnering across toys (Lego, Funko, Hasbro), apparel (Nike, Gap, Crocs, Zara), beauty (CoverGirl), and food and beverage (Eggo, Kellogg's, Doritos, Starbucks). Eggo waffles, a brand integral to the show since Season 1, launched their first-ever strawberry red waffles for the occasion. Beyond merchandise, Stranger Things has expanded into live entertainment with "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" stage play running in London's West End since 2023 and New York since 2024, plus immersive experiences in Abu Dhabi and Mexico City. The franchise also features in Fortnite through Netflix's deal with Epic Games, demonstrating its cultural reach beyond streaming.
