About Upcircle
UpCircle Beauty is the UK's leading upcycled skincare brand, founded in September 2016 by siblings Anna and William Brightman. The innovative beauty company was born from a simple question about what happens to coffee waste, leading to a mission to transform ingredients destined for landfill into high-performance natural skincare products. The brand originated when the Brightman siblings discovered that London cafes alone send over 500,000 tons of coffee grounds to landfill annually. Starting with upcycled coffee grounds, they created their first products and launched as Optiat. Following a successful 2018 appearance on BBC's Dragons' Den where they received offers from three Dragons, the brand rebranded to UpCircle Beauty to better reflect their circular economy mission. UpCircle now works with more than 10 different by-products sourced from various industries, including powdered fruit stones, argan shells, apricot and olive stones, fruit waters from the juicing industry, and bark extracts from the wood sector. Every formulation is infused with upcycled ingredients that would otherwise be disposed of, turning waste into effective, natural skincare solutions. Today, UpCircle Beauty has grown to become the UK's number one upcycled beauty brand, with products sold in over 40 countries worldwide. Their commitment to leaving the world better than they found it continues to drive innovation in sustainable, ethical skincare that proves luxury beauty and environmental responsibility can work hand in hand.
