About Cowshed
Cowshed is a luxury British spa brand that was born in 1998 at Babington House, the first Soho House property with bedrooms, located in a Grade II-listed Georgian manor in Somerset. Founder Nick Jones created the original Cowshed spa in a converted cowshed on the grounds, wanting to build 'a relaxed home-from-home space in the countryside' different from traditional country house hotels. The original product range was developed by perfumer Richard Howard, who created formulations using ingredients from Babington House's Victorian walled garden. In true Soho House irreverent style, products were given playful names like 'Moody Cow', 'Grumpy Cow', and 'Horny Cow'. In 2019, the brand refreshed these to eight refined mood-based ranges including Sleep, Active, and Relax, while maintaining the original quality. From its Somerset origins, Cowshed has grown to 14 global spas. The UK now has six locations: the original Babington House spa, a standalone in Primrose Hill London, and spas within Shoreditch House, The Ned, Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire, and St Moritz Hotel in Cornwall. International locations span Berlin, Miami, and New York, bringing British spa culture worldwide. British shoppers can find Cowshed products at UK supermarkets and beauty retailers. The range includes bath and body products, skincare, aromatherapy, and spa essentials that capture the natural therapies philosophy developed in the heart of Somerset countryside.
