About Crosta and Mollica
Crosta & Mollica is a modern Italian food brand founded in 2009 by James Orr, specialising in authentic artisan pizzas and Italian baked goods. The name translates simply to "crust and crumb"—reflecting the brand's dedication to traditional Italian baking craftsmanship. The founder's journey began during his work as an agricultural technologist importing Italian fruit. Travelling across Italy's regions, meeting farming families, and experiencing their unhurried, convivial mealtimes inspired James to bring authentic Italian food traditions to British kitchens. Headquartered in Clapham, London, Crosta & Mollica has grown into a leading premium Italian food brand available in major UK supermarkets. The company became the first UK-based Italian food brand to achieve B Corporation certification, demonstrating its commitment to social and environmental responsibility. The signature product is the wood-fired sourdough pizza range, made in Italy by artisan bakers. Each pizza features "Lievito Madre" (mother dough) fed with Dolomite mountain water, slow-proved and placed on Etna lava stone before being wood-fired to create the characteristic leopardised, puffed cornicione (crust). The Margherita features traditional pizzeria sauce, Mozzarella Fior di Latte, and Sicilian oregano. Beyond pizzas, the range includes Piadina flatbreads, aperitivo snacks, Italian desserts (Dolci), and pizza bases for home topping. All products are made with natural, clean ingredients following traditional Italian recipes. In January 2024, private equity firm Perwyn invested in Crosta & Mollica to accelerate growth, with David Milner (former chair of Tyrrells and Lily's Kitchen) joining as chairman. Crosta & Mollica products are available at Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons, Co-op, and Ocado. Compare prices across retailers with Grocefully.
