About Fazer
Fazer is Finland's most iconic confectionery and bakery brand, founded by Karl Fazer in 1891 when he opened a French-Russian café in central Helsinki. Considered a treasured part of Finnish national heritage, the brand has been delighting taste buds for over 130 years and is synonymous with quality Finnish confectionery worldwide. Karl Fazer studied baking in Berlin, Paris, and Saint Petersburg before pioneering the Finnish confectionery industry in 1894. His products won prizes at international exhibitions, enabling exports proudly marked 'Made in Finland.' The legendary Fazer Blue milk chocolate, introduced in 1922 using a Swiss recipe reportedly gifted to the Fazer family by an Englishman, remains Finland's most beloved chocolate. Fazer produces numerous iconic products including Marianne chocolate-filled mint candies, Tyrkisk Peber (Turkish Pepper) hot salmiak and pepper candy, Geisha chocolate (launched 1962), and Dumle toffees. Beyond confectionery, Fazer's bakery division produces authentic Finnish breads including their renowned Finntoast sourdough rye bread. Today, Fazer is the leading producer of chocolates, sweets, and biscuits in Finland with 30-40% market share. Employing over 6,000 people across eight countries, Fazer exports to more than 40 countries, bringing authentic Finnish flavours to consumers worldwide. Most Finns have grown up with Fazer products as part of their daily lives.
