About Granini
Granini is a premium European fruit juice brand that has been bringing "la dolce vita" to consumers since 1965. The brand was founded when Heinz Schürmann, an importer of Italian fine foods, was inspired by Italy's vibrant juice culture and introduced his orange juice as "granini Trinkfrucht" (fruit to drink) to the German market. Originally owned by the Melitta Group (famous for coffee products), Granini was acquired by Eckes AG in 1994. This acquisition created Eckes-Granini GmbH & Co. KG, establishing what would become Europe's largest corporate group specialising in fruit juice production. Eckes achieved full ownership in 2006 after purchasing Melitta's remaining 26% stake. The Eckes-Granini Group has roots dating back to 1857, when Peter Eckes founded a distillery in Nieder-Olm in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate region. Today, the group's major shareholder Harald Eckes-Chantré holds a 47% stake and is also Germany's major sparkling wine producer, demonstrating the family's diverse beverage expertise. Granini is now available in over 80 countries worldwide, offering fruit juices, nectars, smoothies, and fruit-based refreshments. The premium positioning emphasises quality fruit content and European sophistication. As part of the Eckes-Granini portfolio alongside brands like Pago, Joker (France), and Sió (Hungary), Granini represents the group's flagship international premium juice brand.
