About Huntley And Palmers
Huntley & Palmers is one of Britain's most legendary biscuit brands, founded in 1822 by Joseph Huntley as a small bakery shop at 119 London Street, Reading. What began as biscuits sold to stagecoach travellers grew into the world's largest biscuit company by 1900, selling 400 varieties across 172 countries. The company's success was built on innovation - George Palmer joined in 1841 and developed the first continuously running biscuit-making machine. They became biscuit makers to British royalty and received royal warrants from Napoleon III and Leopold II of Belgium. Their famous decorated biscuit tins became powerful marketing tools, found everywhere from the heart of Africa to Captain Scott's Antarctic expedition. At their peak, Huntley & Palmers employed over 5,000 people in Reading. After various mergers (Peek Frean, Jacob's) and acquisitions (Nabisco, Danone), the original Reading factory closed in 1976. The brand was revived in 2006 and now operates from Sudbury, Suffolk, continuing its legacy as "The Most Famous Biscuit Company in the World." At Grocefully, you can compare prices on Huntley & Palmers products including their Mini Dippers biscuits across UK supermarkets.
