About Ionos
Ionos is a refreshing Greek white wine produced by Cavino, one of Greece's most respected wineries established in 1958 in Aigio, Peloponnese. The name Ionos means 'omen' and is derived from 'kalos ionos' (good omen), reflecting the wine's welcoming nature as an introduction to quality Greek winemaking for newcomers and enthusiasts alike. Crafted from a blend of 85% Roditis and 15% Moschato grapes grown in sub-mountainous vineyards of Achaia at altitudes between 350-700 metres, Ionos showcases the unique character of indigenous Greek varietals. The Roditis grape, a pink-skinned variety traditionally valued in the Peloponnese, brings fresh acidity and structure, while Moschato adds aromatic complexity and floral notes. Hand-picked during the mid-September harvest, the grapes are fermented with selected yeasts at low temperatures and aged for two months in stainless steel tanks. The result is a white-yellow wine with green highlights, offering elegant aromas of stone fruits, citrus, and white flowers. At 11.5% alcohol, it delivers a soft mouthfeel with balanced acidity and excellent value for money. The range also includes a semi-sweet version. Grocefully helps you compare Ionos wine prices across UK Greek food specialists and wine retailers including The Wine Society and Agora Greek Delicacies.
