About Loctite
Loctite is the pioneering American adhesive brand founded in 1953 by Professor Vernon K. Krieble, who developed anaerobic threadlocking adhesives in his basement laboratory at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut. Working with his son Robert, Krieble created a company that would revolutionise mechanical reliability by eliminating vibrational loosening of fasteners. The name 'Loctite' was coined in 1956 by his daughter-in-law, Nancy Brayton Krieble. In 1975, Loctite entered the consumer market with Super Glue, developing its own cyanoacrylate formula based on the technology accidentally discovered by Dr. Harry Coover in 1942. The brand quickly became synonymous with instant-bonding adhesives for household repairs. German chemicals giant Henkel acquired a stake in 1985 and purchased Loctite entirely in 1997 for $1.2 billion. Today, Loctite offers a comprehensive range under Henkel ownership: Super Glue for instant bonding, Precision applicators with fine nozzles for detailed work, All Purpose adhesives for various materials, Easy Brush for controlled application, gel formulas that won't drip on vertical surfaces, and XXL sizes for frequent users. The brand also maintains its professional industrial range. Compare Loctite prices at UK supermarkets on Grocefully.
