About Martini
Martini is one of the world's most iconic Italian drinks brands, synonymous with vermouth and the aperitivo tradition. The story began in 1847 when Clemente Michel, Carlo Re, Carlo Agnelli and Eligio Baudino established a vermouth bottling plant in Pessione, near Turin. In 1863, Alessandro Martini joined as director alongside Luigi Rossi, the master blender who invented their signature vermouth formula. Their combined enterprising spirit and creative genius created a unique recipe that has endured for over 160 years. The brand's global expansion was remarkably swift. New York received its first Martini crates in 1867, and within thirty years the vermouth was available across the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Greece, Portugal, Belgium and Egypt. This international success was recognised with prestigious awards still recorded on bottles today: Dublin (1865), Paris (1867 and 1878), Vienna (1873) and Philadelphia (1876). The distinctive ball and bar logo was created in 1929. Today, Martini is part of Bacardi Limited following the landmark 1993 acquisition that doubled Bacardi's size to become one of the world's largest premium spirits companies. The award-winning vermouths are crafted from secret blends of more than 40 botanicals sourced from the finest locations globally, delivering the brand's vibrant, bittersweet signature taste. The range has evolved to include premium Riserva Speciale expressions like the Ambrato, featuring richer, more complex flavour profiles. Responding to modern drinking trends, Martini has pioneered the non-alcoholic aperitivo category with Floreale - a botanical-infused alternative that delivers the aperitivo experience without alcohol. Both the Riserva Speciale Ambrato and Floreale are available at Tesco, bringing authentic Italian aperitivo culture to UK homes.
