About Maxwell House
Maxwell House is one of the world's most iconic coffee brands, with a heritage stretching back to 1892 when wholesale grocer Joel Owsley Cheek introduced his carefully developed blend at the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The slogan "Good to the last drop" has become one of advertising's most enduring phrases, representing over 130 years of coffee expertise. The brand's creation began in 1884 when Cheek partnered with British coffee broker Roger Nolley Smith to develop the perfect coffee blend. Their collaboration resulted in the distinctive Maxwell House taste that would make the brand America's highest-selling coffee for nearly a century until the late 1980s. Maxwell House's ownership has passed through several major corporations: from Cheek's Nashville Coffee and Manufacturing Company to General Foods (acquired 1925), then Kraft Foods. Following Kraft Foods Inc.'s 2012 split into two companies, brand rights were divided geographically. In the UK and rest of the world outside North America, Maxwell House is now owned by JDE Peet's—the coffee giant formed from the merger of Jacobs Douwe Egberts and Mondelez International's coffee division. Kraft Heinz retained North American rights. Today, Maxwell House offers a range of products including instant coffee, ground coffee, and coffee bags, providing the reliable, affordable coffee experience that has made it a kitchen staple in British households for generations.
