About Pampers
Pampers is the United Kingdom's number one nappy brand, owned by American multinational Procter & Gamble and available in over 100 countries worldwide. The brand generates over $10 billion in annual revenue for P&G, making it one of their most valuable product lines. From humble beginnings in 1961 when P&G researcher Victor Mills sought a better alternative to cloth nappies for his grandchildren, Pampers has become synonymous with baby care innovation and reliability. The Pampers story began in the 1950s when Mills, frustrated with changing cloth nappies, assigned his Research and Development colleagues to develop the first high-quality, affordable disposable nappy. The resulting product featured pleated edges for better leg fit and was attached with safety pins. The name "Pampers" was coined by Alfred Goldman, Creative Director at advertising agency Benton & Bowles. After launching in Peoria, Illinois in 1961 and receiving its first patent in 1964, Pampers became the first nationally sold disposable nappy brand in the United States by 1969. European expansion followed with launches in Germany (1975), Belgium (1976), and France (1978). Pampers' history is marked by continuous innovation. The 1950s introduced Z-pleats for stretch and stay-dry lining. The 1970s replaced safety pins with custom-fit fastening tapes. The revolutionary 1980s saw thinner nappies with super absorbers. The 1990s brought stretchy sides, while the 2000s introduced Baby Stages of Development sizing. In 2018, Pampers Pure launched without chlorine bleaching, fragrance, parabens, or natural rubber latex. The UK Pampers range centres on two key product lines. Pampers Premium Protection offers the brand's highest specification, featuring the exclusive DermaComfort layer that instantly pulls wetness and mess away from skin and locks it inside. The Stop & Protect pocket prevents leaks escaping at the back, while super-absorbent particles can absorb up to 30 times their weight. Premium Protection is the only newborn nappy approved by the British Skin Foundation and is available in sizes 0-6, with New Baby variants for sizes 0-3. Pampers Baby-Dry provides superior all-night leakage protection at a more accessible price point. The range features the Stop & Protect pocket and new Comfort Touch cover. Available from Size 2 (4kg) to Size 8 (17kg+), Baby-Dry suits growing babies through to toddlerhood. Both ranges are dermatologically tested and certified according to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, approved by dermatologists from the Skin Health Alliance. Nappy pants offer an alternative to taped nappies for active babies and toddlers, making changes quicker and easier. Pampers wipes include Harmonie Aqua (plastic-free), New Baby (for newborns), and Protect & Care variants, providing gentle cleansing for delicate skin. Pampers products are available at all major UK retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, and Boots, plus Amazon for home delivery. Using Grocefully to compare Pampers prices across supermarkets helps parents find the best value on these essential baby care products.
