About Rubicon
Rubicon is the UK's number one exotic juice drink brand, founded in 1982 by Asian entrepreneurs Naresh Nagrecha and Vishram Vekaria. Having previously worked together at Unilever in West Africa, the founders spotted an opportunity to bring authentic exotic fruit drinks to Britain's ethnic communities and beyond. They named the company after the river crossed by Julius Caesar, signalling their ambition to revolutionise the UK soft drinks market. Starting with a single brand called Passionade, Rubicon built its business on tropical flavours largely unknown to mainstream British consumers—mango, guava, papaya, lychee and passion fruit. What began serving convenience stores and independent retailers in London and the South East has grown into a nationally beloved brand, introducing millions of Britons to exotic fruit taste experiences. In August 2008, Scottish beverage giant A.G. Barr acquired Rubicon for approximately £60 million—the largest acquisition in A.G. Barr's 133-year history at the time. Rubicon now sits alongside Irn-Bru and Boost as one of A.G. Barr's core brands. The range has expanded to include sparkling versions, still juice drinks, fruit-based water and energy drinks. In February 2024, Barr launched Mango Zero Added Sugar to meet growing demand for lower-sugar options. Based in Milton Keynes, Rubicon continues to deliver the exotic fruit flavours that made it famous, whilst innovating for modern health-conscious consumers.
