About TAPPED
TAPPED pioneered organic birch water in the UK when former Innocent Drinks colleagues Paul Lederer and Charlie Hoare launched the brand in 2015. Frustrated by the lack of natural, low-sugar functional drinks on the market, the duo drew on their extensive beverage industry experience—Lederer spent four years as Innocent's commercial manager—to create a drink that's been consumed in Nordic countries for centuries. The brand quickly gained traction, achieving over £250,000 in sales within their first year of trading. TAPPED's innovative approach attracted notable backing including Zoopla founder Alex Chesterman OBE, a €25,000 PepsiCo Nutrition Greenhouse grant, and over £200,000 raised through crowdfunding. This support helped secure listings with major retailers including Waitrose, Boots, Sainsbury's, Ocado, and Holland & Barrett. TAPPED sources its birch sap from expert partners in the Nordic regions, maintaining authenticity while bringing this traditional wellness drink to modern consumers. The sap is naturally collected during the short spring tapping season when birch trees push nutrient-rich water up through their trunks. The brand's Norse-inspired design, created by studio Horse, reflects these Nordic roots. UK shoppers can find TAPPED's pure organic birch water and flavoured varieties like Apple & Root Ginger at Tesco and other major retailers. Whether seeking a natural hydration alternative or exploring functional beverages, TAPPED offers authentic birch water backed by beverage industry expertise and genuine Nordic tradition.
