About Tefal
Tefal is a French cookware and small appliance manufacturer that invented the non-stick cookware category. Founded in 1956 by scientist Marc Grégoire, the company name is a portmanteau of TEFlon and ALuminium. While attempting to create a fibreglass fishing rod, Grégoire accidentally discovered a method to apply PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) non-stick coating to aluminium—at his wife's suggestion, he applied this to frying pans. Tefal has been owned by Groupe SEB since 1968, when the French conglomerate made its first acquisition. By then, Tefal had already become the world's leading manufacturer of non-stick cookware. Today, Tefal operates in over 120 countries. In the United States, Canada and Japan, the brand is marketed as T-fal (due to DuPont's objection that "Tefal" was too close to their "Teflon" trademark). Since 2003, Tefal has partnered with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, combining Tefal's quality and technology with Jamie's culinary expertise. The Jamie Oliver by Tefal collection includes Hard Anodised Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron and Copper cookware with 10-year guarantees. Key features include titanium-reinforced non-stick coatings (100% toxin-free), Thermo-Signal technology (indicates when pans are ready), and the patented Ingenio removable handle system for space-saving storage. Beyond cookware, Tefal innovations include ActiFry air fryers for healthier cooking, AirBake baking ranges, steam irons, and blenders. Tefal remains the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances globally. Compare Tefal prices at Tesco, Argos, Currys, John Lewis and Amazon with Grocefully.
