About Tip Tree
Tiptree is the iconic preserve brand of Wilkin & Sons Limited, established in Tiptree, Essex in 1885, and one of Britain's most celebrated food heritage brands. The Wilkin family has farmed at Trewlands farm in Tiptree since the early 1700s, transitioning from arable crops to fruit in the 1860s. When Prime Minister William Gladstone championed fruit preserving to the British public, Arthur Charles Wilkin founded the Britannia Fruit Preserving Company in 1885, creating the first Tiptree preserves for export to Australia. Within a decade, the company was producing over 200 tons of fruit annually. Tiptree has held a Royal Warrant for preserves and marmalades continuously since 1911 - now over a century of royal recognition. The company is currently a Royal Warrant holder as Purveyors of Tiptree Products to His Majesty King Charles III. This exceptional honour reflects the brand's unwavering commitment to quality and tradition. All Tiptree preserves are still made in small batches in traditional copper-bottom pans, using time-honoured methods that have remained unchanged for generations. The company farms around 650 acres of Essex farmland producing Grade I fruits, including rare varieties like medlars, mulberries and quinces. Tiptree is particularly famous for its Little Scarlet strawberries - a heritage variety grown exclusively on the Tiptree estate that produces their signature conserve. The range extends to marmalades (including their acclaimed Seville Orange), curds, chutneys, and speciality spreads, making Tiptree a complete accompaniment for the British breakfast and afternoon tea table. Beyond preserves, Wilkin & Sons operates a chain of tea rooms across Essex, the Tiptree Patisserie bakery, and the Tiptree Visitor Centre featuring a museum about jam-making and village life. Cole's Puddings, the premium Christmas pudding producer, has also joined the Wilkin & Sons food family. Compare Tiptree preserve prices across UK supermarkets at Grocefully.
