About Tobar
Tobar is a British toy and novelty gift company founded in 1973 by Sid Templer in Halesworth, Suffolk. The name TOBAR derives from the first letters of his sons' names - Toby and Barnaby. What started as a niche mail order business grew into a major toy supplier, later becoming the parent company of the famous Hawkin's Bazaar shop chain. Toby Templer took over from his father in 1989, and the company moved to a £10 million facility in Worlingham in 2007 before relocating to Norfolk in 2013. After a 2015 management buyout supported by private equity firm Merino, Tobar acquired Scottish toy company Bluw Limited (2016), H Grossman established in Glasgow 1946 (2018), and educational company Kit for Kids (2019). Tobar specialises in pocket money toys, practical jokes, and novelty curiosities - some classic products have been sold since the 1970s including wooden dolls, Chinese puzzles, and yo-yos. Modern ranges include Scrunchems squish balls, glow-in-the-dark toys, craft kits, die-cast vehicles, bubbles, outdoor games, and sensory toys. The company operates internationally with warehouses in the UK and France, plus a showroom in Hong Kong. Compare Tobar prices at UK supermarkets on Grocefully. We track squish balls, craft kits, die-cast models, outdoor toys, and novelty gifts across Ocado, Tesco, and other retailers to help you find the best deals on classic British toys.
