About Tomy
Tomy is one of the world's oldest and most beloved toy companies, founded in 1924 by Eiichirō Tomiyama in Japan as the Tomiyama Toy Manufacturing Company. Initially famous for creating elaborate toy aeroplanes, the company adopted the Tomy name in 1963 and went on to create countless classic toys that have delighted generations of children worldwide. The company's rich heritage includes iconic games like Pop-up Pirate and Screwball Scramble that remain family favourites decades after their creation. Tomy also holds the licence for Thomas & Friends toys and produces the beloved Lamaze developmental baby toy range. The company's commitment to quality and innovation has made it a trusted name in nurseries and playrooms across the globe. In 2006, Tomy merged with fellow Japanese toymaker Takara to create Japan's largest toy company. Takara brought famous brands including the original Transformers toys, Beyblade and B-Daman to the partnership. The merged company operates as Takara Tomy in Japan while maintaining the Tomy brand internationally, leveraging each company's strengths in product development and global distribution. Headquartered in Katsushika, Tokyo, Tomy continues its century-long mission of creating toys that inspire imagination and bring joy to families. From first baby toys through to intricate collectibles, Tomy's range spans all ages with the same quality standards that founder Eiichirō Tomiyama established 100 years ago.
