About Tweezerman
Tweezerman is the world's leading precision beauty tools brand, founded in 1980 by entrepreneur Dal LaMagna with just $500 in startup capital. The origin story began in 1979 when LaMagna, then running an ice cream parlor, suffered splinters and discovered he couldn't find quality needle-pointed tweezers at his local drugstore. This frustration sparked an idea, and the following year he launched his first product: the Splintertweeze. After more than 20 previous business failures following his departure from Harvard Business School in 1971, Tweezerman would become LaMagna's breakout success. The company's famous name came about through a serendipitous moment. Originally selling products as "Dal LaMagna Grooming Tweezers," LaMagna walked into a beauty salon to make a sale when someone called out "Tweezerman is here!" Recognising the marketing genius of this nickname, he immediately rebranded the company and began hiring sales representatives. More importantly, LaMagna quickly realised that the beauty market for eyebrow grooming far exceeded the medical market for splinter removal, pivoting the brand's positioning accordingly. Tweezerman's growth was remarkable. By 1984, annual revenues approached $1 million, surpassing that milestone the following year. LaMagna built the company with strong ethical principles, giving 20% ownership to employees and making Tweezerman a founding member of the B-Corporation movement. When he sold the company to German kitchenware manufacturer Zwilling J.A. Henckels in December 2004 for $57 million, his employees shared $12 million from the proceeds, demonstrating his commitment to responsible capitalism. Today, Tweezerman offers a comprehensive range of precision beauty tools. Their signature slant tweezers come in various colours and feature licensed designs including Disney Mickey and Minnie Mouse collections. The range extends to eyebrow shaping scissors with brushes, professional eyelash curlers with refill pads, complete manicure and pedicure kits, nail clippers, cuticle nippers, facial razors with replacement blades, glass manicure sets, and nail care blocks. Available at UK retailers including Ocado, Tweezerman remains the professional's choice for precision grooming.
