About Airwaves
Airwaves is a sugar-free chewing gum brand produced by Wrigley, now part of Mars Wrigley Confectionery. Launched in the 1990s, Airwaves is renowned for its intense menthol and eucalyptus flavour that provides not just fresh breath but a head-clearing sensation similar to medicinal cough drops. The distinctive Airwaves formula combines eucalyptus and menthol in the candy coating of each gum piece, creating the brand's signature intense flavour experience. This menthol-eucalyptus combination has long been used in medicated sweets to help clear nasal passages and reduce cold symptoms. While Airwaves isn't marketed as medicine, many consumers reach for it during colds for its refreshing, clearing effect. The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, founded in 1891, developed Airwaves as part of their sugar-free gum range. In 2008, Mars, Incorporated acquired Wrigley in a $23 billion deal, and Mars Wrigley Confectionery was formed in 2017 by merging the Wrigley and Mars Chocolate divisions. Airwaves is now part of this global confectionery powerhouse. While globally Airwaves comes in flavours including Blackcurrant & Vitamin C, Cherry, Grapefruit & Menthol, and Black Mint, the UK market primarily features the iconic Menthol & Eucalyptus variety in the distinctive blue packaging. Available in multipacks and bottle formats, Airwaves remains a popular choice for those seeking intense freshness.
