About Aqua Carpatica
Aqua Carpatica is a premium mineral water brand sourced from protected springs near Vatra Dornei in Romania's Carpathian Mountains. Founded in 2010 by Swiss-Greek entrepreneur Jean Valvis, the brand has rapidly become one of Europe's most respected premium water brands, achieving status as Romania's top-selling flat mineral water within just five years. The water undergoes a natural 20 to 40-year filtration process through pristine underground aquifers in a region free from agriculture or industrial activity. This results in water that is 100% naturally nitrate-free, sodium-free, and pleasantly alkaline—qualities that distinguish it from competitors. Romania holds over 60% of Europe's mineral water resources, and Aqua Carpatica is responsibly extracted and bottled directly at source. In 2022, PepsiCo acquired a 20% stake in the company to expand distribution across Europe and the United States, recognising the brand's premium positioning against luxury labels like Evian and San Pellegrino. Aqua Carpatica is now available in over 16 countries worldwide. The UK range includes still and sparkling varieties in various sizes (500ml, 1L, 1.5L), plus glass bottle options and Aqua Carpatica Kids with child-friendly packaging. The sparkling variant is naturally rich in electrolytes, providing approximately 39% of adult daily calcium requirements and 26% of magnesium per litre. Products are available at Tesco, Sainsbury's, Ocado, and Amazon UK.
