About Babyliss
BaByliss is a pioneering French hair styling brand founded in 1961 in Paris by hairstylists René Lelièvre and Roger Lemoine. The duo invented the first electric hair curling iron, revolutionising the hair care appliance industry. Their hairdressing partner Jean-Pierre Felblum began selling their innovative products, and legend has it the brand name was inspired by French actress Brigitte Bardot. Lelièvre innovated on early curling tong designs, specifically marketing products for professional hair stylists. This focus on salon-quality performance made BaByliss the leading French manufacturer of personal care appliances, with products including curling irons, waxers, and facial saunas sold throughout Europe. The brand became synonymous with professional-grade styling tools accessible to home users. In 1995, American company Conair Corporation acquired BaByliss for approximately $38 million. Conair, founded in 1959 in a Queens garage selling hair rollers, grew to become a major personal care products company. The acquisition boosted Conair sales from $500 million to over $650 million. BaByliss European headquarters remain in Montrouge, France, maintaining its French heritage. Today BaByliss offers hair dryers, straighteners, curling tools, and styling accessories for both professionals and consumers. Compare BaByliss prices on Grocefully across UK supermarkets.
