About Boost
Boost Drinks is a British energy drink company founded in Leeds on 27 June 2001 by Simon Gray, a Leeds Metropolitan University graduate who started the business at age 28 with just a £30,000 bank loan. As a big consumer of energy drinks during his university days, Gray spotted a gap in the market for an energy brand focused on convenience stores and independent retailers rather than competing directly with major supermarket brands. Originally established as Blast UK Limited before changing to Boost Drinks Limited in July 2001, the company repaid its bank loan within the first 12 months and has grown to become one of Britain's most successful independent drinks companies. With turnover of £75 million and a team of 35 employees, Boost has become a top three brand in each of its categories: Stimulation energy, Sport, and Iced Coffee. The brand is particularly dominant in Northern Ireland where it's the market leader, and has at times even outsold Coca-Cola in certain channels. Boost distributes to international markets including Spain, Croatia, South Africa and Nigeria. The original Boost Energy recipe contains taurine, caffeine, B vitamins and inositol for an energy boost. The range has expanded to include sports drinks, protein shakes, and iced coffee, all primarily sold through convenience stores, independent retail chains and petrol forecourts across the UK.
