About BrewDog
BrewDog is Scotland's iconic craft brewery, founded in Fraserburgh in 2007 by 24-year-olds James Watt and Martin Dickie. Starting with a bank loan, some steel tanks, and a passion for proper beer, they sparked a craft beer revolution in the UK that transformed the industry. The founders met at school and shared digs at Edinburgh University—Watt studying economics and law, Dickie brewing at Heriot-Watt. Dickie's experience at Thornbridge brewery, where he helped develop Jaipur IPA, became the prototype for BrewDog's flagship Punk IPA, released in 2007. Punk IPA, a golden hoppy ale bursting with caramel, grapefruit, pineapple, and lychee, stood in stark contrast to mass-produced lagers dominating UK pubs. It became a catalyst for Britain's craft beer movement and was voted a UK Top 50 beer in 2025. The recipe was refreshed in 2024-25 with new krush hops for a "cleaner, brighter, punchier" taste. Now headquartered in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, BrewDog is the seventh-largest beer brand in Britain and claims to be Europe's #1 craft brewer. Production exceeds 100 million litres annually, with beers sold in 57 countries and over 129 bars worldwide. In 2009, BrewDog pioneered "Equity for Punks," allowing fans to become shareholders through crowdfunding. The UK range includes Punk IPA (5.4%), Hazy Jane (hazy IPA), Elvis Juice (citrus IPA), Wingman (session IPA), Lost Lager, and specialty releases. The Punk family expanded with Punk AF (0.5% alcohol-free), Double Punk (8.2%), Easy Punk (low calorie), and gluten-free Punk IPA. Over 23 beers are certified vegan. BrewDog is available at UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, and Morrisons. Compare prices across retailers with Grocefully.
