About Cif
Cif is a household cleaning brand owned by Unilever, with Cif Cream being the bestselling cream cleaner in the UK. First launched in France in 1965, the revolutionary non-scratch formula cleaned modern household surfaces like stainless steel and enamel effectively without causing damage. The product launched in the UK in 1974 as Jif, with production at Port Sunlight. In January 2001, Unilever changed the name from Jif to Cif across most markets to align marketing and product inventories across Europe. Despite initial consumer backlash in England, Cif was growing strongly again within six months. The brand is sold as Jif, Vim, Viss, and Handy Andy in different countries across the 51 markets where it's available. Cif Cream is now sold in over 75 countries. The product range includes Cif Original Cream Cleaner with "101 uses around your home" - tackling grease-encrusted hobs, muddy trainers, and crayon on walls. Cif Lemon Cream Cleaner offers the same versatility with a zesty citrus scent. The formula removes 100% of the toughest dirt with less rinsing. Cif Power & Shine Kitchen Spray lifts away 100% of tough grease for a streak-free finish on ceramic, chrome, enamel, hobs, and cooker hoods. Cif Power & Shine Bathroom Spray tackles limescale, soap scum, and bathroom dirt on showers, tiles, grout, baths, and sinks. The Cleanboost range features water and dirt-repellent technology. Product innovation has continued since launch: 1983 saw finer calcite for improved care on plastic surfaces, 1990 introduced a raised spout and slimline bottle, and 2006 brought trigger spray formats. In 2001, Cif Oxy-Gel launched as the first multi-purpose liquid gel-spray with active oxygen.
