About Gastone Lago
Gastone Lago represents over 55 years of authentic Italian confectionery craftsmanship. Founded in 1968 in Galliera Veneta near Padua—a region of northern Italy renowned for its agricultural and artisanal heritage—the company began as a specialist wafer biscuit producer under the name Elledi before rebranding to honour its passionate founder, Gastone Lago. The founder's dedication to quality and his belief in his team transformed a small artisan operation into an internationally recognised symbol of Italian confectionery excellence. Under his guidance, Elledi played a fundamental role in growing the wafer category in Italy, with Gastone Lago himself responsible for developing the excellent cream and wafer recipes that define the brand's quality reputation. From its wafer origins, Gastone Lago expanded into ladyfingers (Savoiardi), cookies, tartlets, and doughnuts. The iconic Poker wafers—available in classic and party varieties—remain bestsellers, while their Savoiardi are favoured for authentic tiramisu preparation. The range also includes Sfogliatine puff pastries and traditional Amaretto biscuits. International expansion began in the early 1990s with a formal export division established in 2002. Today, Gastone Lago products reach consumers in over 80 countries including the United States, UK, Spain, Portugal, Israel, China, South Korea, and Australia—making the brand a true ambassador of Made in Italy confectionery worldwide.
