About Gressingham Foods
Gressingham Foods is the UK's largest supplier of premium duck, a family-run farm company based in Debach, Suffolk for over 50 years. Founded in 1971 by Maurice and Miriam Buchanan, who started farming chickens before discovering a revolutionary duck breed in 1989 - a cross between the succulent Pekin duck and the flavoursome Wild Mallard that would become the renowned Gressingham Duck. The Gressingham Duck® is a unique breed perfected over two years by the Buchanan family, creating a product that delivers succulent, tasty meat with deliciously crispy skin. Now led by sons Geoff and William Buchanan, the company has grown from 200 ducklings transported by train from Peterborough to becoming synonymous with premium duck across the UK. Their 2024 turnover reached £170 million, with operating profit rising 193% to nearly £10 million. The product range extends beyond their signature duck breasts and tender legs to include whole ducks, half ducks, shredded duck meat, duck wings, and even duck hearts for restaurant menus. Gressingham also rears geese from September through January and imports speciality poultry including guinea fowl, quail, and poussin. Their reputation for exceptional taste has made them the duck of choice for major UK retailers and top restaurants nationwide. Gressingham duck is available at all major supermarkets including Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco, Co-op, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Amazon Fresh, Budgens, and Booths, plus independent butchers and specialist food retailers. Duck now holds 16.7% of the total poultry market, with Gressingham commanding 11.3% of all duck sold in the UK. Compare Gressingham duck prices at Grocefully.
