About Jordans
Jordans is a British breakfast cereal company founded in 1972 by brothers Bill and David Jordan, the sixth generation of a family farming business dating back to 1855 when William Herbert Jordan bought Holme Mills in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Now part of Jordans Dorset Ryvita (a subsidiary of Associated British Foods), Jordans is the UK's fourth largest cereals manufacturer and the number one granola and muesli brand in Western Europe. The Jordan family were farmers in North Bedfordshire with roots dating back to the 18th century. The mills produced flour until 1970, when brothers Bill and David transformed the business after discovering granola during a trip to California in 1969. Bill gave up his music touring career to launch the UK's first natural golden cluster granola - "Crunchy G" - in 1972. In 1980, Jordans introduced the Original Crunchy Bar, becoming the first to present granola in cereal bar format. This breakthrough product helped win shelf space at Waitrose and subsequently all major UK supermarkets. The company was awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2003, and founder Bill Jordan received an MBE in 2005. Every bowl of Jordans Granola and Country Crisp is still baked in the small town of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Country Crisp features British wholegrain cereals including oat flakes, barley flakes, and oat flour, with no artificial flavourings, colourings, or preservatives. Through the Jordans Farm Partnership established in 1985, the company works with British oat farmers to dedicate 10% of their land to protected wildlife habitats - creating a network of nature reserves for birds, bees, and butterflies. This Conservation Grade farming approach pioneered less restrictive but environmentally responsible practices through the Guild of Conservation Food Producers.
