About Loma Linda
Loma Linda is a pioneering plant-based food brand with extraordinary heritage stretching back to 1890, when it was established by John Harvey Kellogg, the creator of corn flakes. This makes it one of the oldest vegetarian food brands in the world, predating the modern plant-based movement by over a century. The brand has deep roots in the Seventh-day Adventist Church's commitment to healthful living and vegetarianism. What began at the Loma Linda Sanitarium in California evolved into the Loma Linda Food Company in 1933, producing some of the first commercial soy and wheat-based meat alternatives available in the United States. By the 1960s, Loma Linda Foods was one of the two largest manufacturers of soy-based foods in America. The company was owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church until 1990, then passed through Worthington Foods, Kellogg Company (acquired 1999), and Atlantic Natural Foods (acquired 2015). Following Atlantic Natural Foods' 2025 bankruptcy, the brand was acquired by Century Pacific Food of the Philippines. Loma Linda products include canned vegetarian alternatives such as chili, taco filling, and meat analogues including plant-based sausage, chicken, tuna, scallops, and steak. These shelf-stable options offer convenient protein sources for vegetarians and vegans. Compare Loma Linda plant-based products across Iceland and other UK retailers on Grocefully.
