Mayflower is the UK's go-to brand for authentic Chinese-style curry sauce, bringing the taste of the chip shop and Chinese takeaway into British homes since 1988. Created by King Asia Foods Ltd, the Doncaster-based family business founded by the Fong family, Mayflower has become synonymous with that distinctive golden curry sauce beloved across the nation. The brand was established with a mission to make Chinese sauces a recognisable household name. What started as retail products quickly expanded as the company secured deals with major frozen food retailers. By the early 1990s, under Managing Director So Him Fong's leadership, King Asia diversified into foodservice, supplying chip shops and takeaways throughout the UK with their famous curry sauce. Today, the company operates from a 50,000 sq. ft. facility in Doncaster and was honoured with a visit from HRH The Princess Royal to commemorate their 20th anniversary. Mayflower products are stocked at B&M, Farmfoods, Home Bargains, Iceland, and numerous other retailers, while their foodservice division supplies universities, schools, hospitals, and catering organisations through partnerships with groups like TUCO. The product range spans Asian Classics like Chinese Chicken Curry, British Favourites including Gravy 'n' Chips, and their iconic curry sauce mixes available in medium and hot varieties. Mayflower remains proudly family-owned and operated, carrying the Fong family legacy into the next generation while continuing to innovate with new products.
