About Melissa
Melissa (Greek: Μέλισσα, meaning "bee" - a symbol of industry) is Greece's largest pasta production company and one of the most important food companies in Europe. Established in 1947 as Melissa Kikizas S.A., the company has grown to control nearly two-thirds of the Greek pasta market. Operating from one of the largest vertically integrated pasta production complexes in Larissa, Greece's wheat-producing heartland, Melissa annually grinds more than 65,000 tons of hard wheat and produces over 50,000 tons of pasta. The company began exporting in the 1970s and now has a presence in more than 45 countries, with exports representing 25% of annual turnover. Melissa pioneered children's pasta with their innovative Melissa Pasta Kids line, launched in 2009 as the first and only dedicated kids pasta series. The range features character-shaped pasta including Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol designs, making mealtimes fun for children with their favourite TV characters. Beyond kids pasta, Melissa offers an extensive range including high protein pasta, gluten-free options, organic-bio pasta, whole wheat varieties, ancient grains pasta, and pasta with vegetable puree. The company's brand portfolio also includes Primo Gusto, Stella, Avez, and Vlaha. Melissa represents authentic Greek food manufacturing excellence, combining traditional pasta-making heritage with modern innovation to appeal to families across the world. Their products are available in UK supermarkets including kids character pasta that makes healthy eating appealing to children.
