About Pooch And Mutt
Pooch & Mutt is a British health-focused dog food brand founded in 2007 by Guy Blaskey. The company was born from personal experience—Guy's family dog Cookie was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 3 months old and told she'd need a hip replacement by age 3. Treated with a natural joint supplement from Guy's mum's company Blue Chip Feed, Cookie never needed surgery and lived a full, active life for another 11 years. This inspired Guy to reformulate the supplement for dogs, creating Pooch & Mutt. The founding products—Bionic Biotic and Mobile Bones supplements—remain in the range today. The company has grown from these functional supplements into a comprehensive health food brand for dogs, with wet food, dry food, treats, and supplements all designed with health benefits in mind. In 2020, Czech pet food company VAFO Group took a minority stake, increasing to 40% in 2022 before acquiring the remaining 60% in July 2023. Unlike competitors Lily's Kitchen and Tails who sold to Nestlé, VAFO remains an independently owned family company. Founder Guy Blaskey continued as Chief Visionary Officer. In January 2025, Pooch & Mutt acquired BIOME9, a dog gut health testing company, enabling customers to access at-home Gut Health Tests that use science, research, and AI to analyse dogs' microbiomes. A new laboratory alongside Aberystwyth University strengthens the scientific foundation. This reflects the brand's focus on functional nutrition and preventative health. The product range includes grain-free dry food, wet food pouches, dental treats, calming treats, joint supplements, and gut health products. VAFO is a founding member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition with a pledge for 100% recyclable packaging by 2025. Pooch & Mutt is available at UK retailers including Pets at Home, Amazon, and supermarkets. Compare prices with Grocefully.
