About Potters
Potter's Herbals is the UK's oldest herbal medicines manufacturer, founded in 1812 by Henry Potter in Farringdon Street, London. While Napoleon retreated from Moscow, young Henry was hanging his sign reading "Seedsman, Herbalist and Dealer in Leeches" - laying the foundations for over 210 years of British herbal medicine heritage. Henry Potter's innovation was blending specially-selected plant ingredients to create holistic natural medicines at a time when medical care was prohibitively expensive. This multi-ingredient synergy approach remains at the heart of all Potter's products today, with formulations developed from centuries of herbal knowledge. For much of its history, Potter's has been associated with Wigan in the North West, where products were manufactured at Leyland Mill Lane before moving to modern pharmaceutical-grade facilities at Botanic Court, Martland Park. The company was instrumental in founding the British Herbal Medicine Association in 1964. Now owned by Soho Flordis International (SFI), Potter's produces traditional herbal remedies including Mucus Cough and Chesty Cough Relief Pastilles with menthol, dwarf pine oil, and eucalyptus. Their classic Malt Extract with Cod Liver Oil continues a tradition beloved by generations of British families.
